Tipsy Midgie Whisky Bar in Edinburgh wins SLTN Best Whisky Bar of the Year in Scotland 2024

Delighted for Colin Hinds, patron of the Tipsy Midgie (great name!) whisky bar in Edinburgh, on his impressive win - for a second year in a row. Here is the release …

Tipsy Midgie has claimed yet another award, winning the prestigious Whisky Bar of the Year award at the SLTN Awards (Scottish Licensed Trade News) in Glasgow last week. They proudly brought the coveted title of Whisky Bar of the Year 2024 back to Edinburgh.

This impressive accolade is the second year running that Colin and the team has secured a title of Whisky Bar of the Year after winning both Scottish Whisky Bar of the Year and Whisky Guru of the Year at the Scottish Bar and Pub Award in 2023!

This year, Tipsy Midgie was the only bar from the Capital to make the shortlist, highlighting the exceptional array of whisky bars that have emerged in recent years. It has firmly established itself as the premium destination for those eager to learn about our national dram or those already in the know.

Tipsy Midgie proudly offers the largest selection of single malts in Edinburgh, featuring some of the finest and rarest whiskies alongside more approachable drams. Colin has meticulously curated an enviable range of whiskies, with prices ranging from £2 to £1000 per dram. Drawing on Colin's background as an award-winning chef, Tipsy Midgie also presents ‘Tipsy Treats’—a unique offering where traditional chocolate bars and treats are expertly paired with exceptional drams.

Colin attributes this year’s SLTN Award to his relentless efforts in organising some of Scotland's premier whisky events. These include world-exclusive tastings and the immensely popular Sunday Exploration flights, where each week he selects three drams from a different distillery. This allows guests to learn about and savour some exceptional whiskies, all for just £10 for the three drams. This dedication has fostered a loyal community of whisky enthusiasts at Tipsy Midgie.

Colin says ‘It’s unbelievable to have won yet another prestigious award after such a short time of being open. It’s truly an honour and I would like to thank everyone involved in this achievement. I’m extremely humbled to receive this recognition!’
